Ok...I do live. Every year I think...this year will be different; this year I will have time. Nope. :) Oh well...surely it can't be this busy for the rest of my life. :)

I wanted to post some happiness because last post was so *AGGRGRGRGR*. hee.

This weekend was AMAZING!!!!!!!!!! Don't know if anyone remembers, but I posted several weeks back about my friend Ruth asking me to go with her to Atlanta to see Les Miserables (the musical). Want to know more? Go here

Well, we had just the most amazing time! We (Ruth, her brother and his lovely wife and myself) all drove down to Atlanta on Friday, we stayed with Ruth's older sister and her husband (who is from Australia and the coolest guy ever) and Ruth's other sister came up from her college so we all stayed in the house for the weekend. Friday night we stayed up late and talked, then we slept late Sat. morning. After a lovely breakfast that would do a hobbit proud we went to a lovely riverside park and just sat and talked and laughed. We then went back to the house and got ready for the night.

We all spruced up and left about 5;30 for dinner. We ate at this great place called "The Old Spaghetti Factory", it was the strangest mix of elegance and home. funny! After dinner we went to the Fox Theater. Words cannot express how beautiful the Fox is. Have any of you ever been there?? It was too amazing for words. Everything is very Arabian, the design, the lights, the furniture, everything. The House itself is AMAZING!!!!!!!! It looks like the audience is sitting under a striped red and gold canopy and above that the sky (yes the SKY!!! :) not a real sky, but it sure looks real) is full of twinkling stars. Before the show the sun is in the sky, and as show time gets closer the sun slowly sets. WONDERFUL! All around you (along the walls of the room) are surrounded by the walls of a great Arabian palace. I really can't do it justice....you must just go see it!

The show started! I have seen the show once before, and I have listened to many recordings of the score and this was the best yet!!!! Valjean was unreal! If you are familiar with the show you know the song BRING HIM HOME

(Valjean is standing over Marius at the barricade)

VALJEAN
God on high
Hear my prayer
In my need
You have always been there

He is young
He's afraid
Let him rest
Heaven blessed.
Bring him home
Bring him home
Bring him home.

He's like the son I might have known
If God had granted me a son.
The summers die
One by one
How soon they fly
On and on
And I am old
And will be gone.

Bring him peace
Bring him joy
He is young
He is only a boy

You can take
You can give
Let him be
Let him live
If I die, let me die
Let him live
Bring him home
Bring him home
Bring him home.

, well this guy was almost angelic...he hit those insanely high notes and you would have thought it was as easy as breathing. The tone...oh! He floated!!! My other favorite part was Marius, I have always like the role of Marius (thanks largely to Michael Ball) but sometimes it is easy to get annoyed with his character (especially because my favorite character is Eponine.) because the character can be played very thick. (see Eponine is in love with Marius, but Marius just doesn’t see it, and he falls in love with another girl and asks Eponine to find her for him and all this other stuff, which Eponine does, and in the end she is killed because she follows him to the student barricades. (That’s where the icon comes from; they sing this wonderfully tragic song called A LITTLE FALL OF RAIN

EPONINE
Don't you fret, M'sieur Marius
I don't feel any pain
A little fall of rain
Can hardly hurt me now
You're here, that's all I need to know
And you will keep me safe
And you will keep me close
And rain will make the flowers grow.

MARIUS
But you will live, 'Ponine - dear God above,
If I could heal your wounds with words of love.

EPONINE
Just hold me now, and let it be.
Shelter me, comfort me

MARIUS
You would live a hundred years
If I could show you how
I won't desert you now...

EPONINE
The rain can't hurt me now
This rain will wash away what's past
And you will keep me safe
And you will keep me close
I'll sleep in your embrace at last.

The rain that brings you here
Is Heaven-blessed!
The skies begin to clear
And I'm at rest
A breath away from where you are
I've come home from so far
So don't you fret, M'sieur Marius

I don't feel any pain
A little fall of rain
Can hardly hurt me now

That's all I need to know
And you will keep me safe
And you will keep me close

MARIUS(in counterpoint)
Hush-a-bye, dear Eponine,
You won't feel any pain
A little fall of rain
Can hardly hurt you now
I'm here

I will stay with you
Till you are sleeping

EPONINE
And rain...

MARIUS
And rain...

EPONINE
Will make the flowers...

MARIUS
Will make the flowers... grow...

(She dies. Marius kisses her, then lays her on the ground)

)) Anyway, this guy who played Marius was so good, his interaction with the other characters, his little moments, well, lets just say he lived my ideal for his character....it was WONDERFUL!!! heee. They were all wonderful! There wasn't a voice among them that wasn't amazing....

I couldn't have had a better weekend! :):):):):):)

*Happy Dance*

Ok...I should shut up now and go do work....hope all of you have a wonderful week!!!

*sigh* I wanted to see Les Mis in the Fox, but its ok that I missed it. I'm going to see Riverdance there in October. I can't wait. I've only been to the Fox one other time and I LOVED it. I want to live there and make it my home. ^_^ I'm glad that you had such a fabulous time in Atlanta. I live just about 30 miles south of there, plus I tend to spend my weekends at Georgia Tech, so the next time you are in town let me know. We can go eat somemore yummy food at the Spagetti factory and then go down the street for Krispy Cream. Yummmm the hobbits would be proud huh?

Hugs
